Welcome to season 2, episode 41 of the Today is the Day Changemakers Podcast.
This week my guest is Holly Powell. Holly is an Emmy Award winning Casting Director, best-selling author, Co-founder, Beyond Ranch Foundation, Founding Member, She Angels Foundation.
In this episode Holly shares about becoming a sought-after Casting Director. She casted for movies of the week, pilots, mini-series', and feature films like About Last Night with Demi Moore and Rob Lowe. She won a Casting Director Emmy Award with Randy Stone for The Incident, which was a movie of the week. That was only the second year that there was a Casting Director category.
Holly moved on from working for a studio and traveled across the country teaching her audition workshops through Holly Powell Studios. Her best-selling book, The Audition Bible: Secrets Every Actor Needs to Know is required reading in several colleges, universities, and drama schools.
During the 2020 pandemic, Holly authored/co-edited, Mavis' Kitchen: A Southern Cooking Lifestyle. This book is a love letter to her mother, Mavis. The book is a combination of cookbook, memoir, and history.
As Holly says, she is now in her Third Act and continues to search for ways to improve the lives of fellow humans on our shared planet.
Holly is the Co-Founder and Board Member of Beyond Ranch Foundation. Their mission is to build low-cost inclusive communities across the world for adults living with severe autism. She also serves as a Founding Member of the She Angels Foundation.
