Linda Martin was born into the Idaho Followers of Christ sect, leaving the church at age 16. It is estimated that the child mortality rate for the Followers of Christ between 2002 and 2011 was 10 times that of Idaho as a whole.

In 2013, Linda went public about the many religious medical neglect deaths of children in Idaho, and she continues to bring awareness to the religious medical neglect of children.

With the late Rita Swan, Linda helped set up the website idahochildren.org which has links to important articles and information about laws in the United States that allow religious exemptions to medical care for sick children.
