In this weeks episode of "The Discover Strength Podcast" Dr. Westcott and I discuss the research on the plethora of benefits that resistance training has to offer that go well beyond strength and added muscle mass.
Dr. Wayne Westcott, is a professor and chair of Exercise Science at Quincy College in Quincy, Massachusetts. He has authored 30 books, written strength training chapters for 4 National Strength and Conditioning Association textbooks and 5 American Council on Exercise textbooks, published 95 peer-reviewed research and academic papers, and served as the Health & Fitness columnist for ACSM’s Certified News from 2010 through 2017.
Wayne has been a featured speaker for numerous professional organizations, including national meetings of the American College of Sports Medicine, the American College of Nutrition, the Harvard Medical School International Conference on Obesity, and the Harvard Medical School Lifestyle Medicine Conference. He has also been a strength training consultant for many organizations, including the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Coast Guard, the YMCA of the USA, and 6 NFL football teams.
