In this exceptional episode of The Council Fire, we’re speaking with Rique Patire, a Hospice Volunteer and the Creator/Producer/Performer of “Centered in the Storm,” a musical exploration of life, death, and family matters told in a humorous, poignant and uplifting way. The program follows Rique’s blue collar Jersey family's journey to accept the loss of their son and brother. It features songs from multiple Grammy winner, Emmylou Harris. Hospice care focuses on bringing comfort, self-respect, and tranquility to people in the final years of life believing that the end of life is not a medical experience; it is a human experience that benefits from expert medical and holistic support. Hospice cares for patients’ families as well, to help them cope with what is happening and provide care and support to keep the patient at home. Rique combines his program, “Centered in the Storm,” with Local Hospice organizations as a co-fundraiser and to raise awareness of the many benefits that hospice organizations provide.
