Cousin Jack - the last event organised by Bys Vyken Events. After 7 years David and Sally are moving onto new ventures so a fitting end to their tenure with this most brutal yet spectacular of runs which takes in 18 miles from St Just to St Ives.
It is a breathtaking route weaving its way through lots of old tin mining setups but it is tough particularly the section from Zennor to just before St Ives.
I started recording just before we left the Miners Chapel in St Just which was race HQ and whilst the quality of the recording was good my micro SD card did run out of space after 13 miles. Nevertheless I'm sure you'll get a feel for this event which may well be back next year as Bys Vyken Events have new owners in the form of the fabulous Martin and Sarah from Whythra Running Tours.
A big shout out at the beginning to all the listeners that I'm aware of who took part – apologies if you are listening and I missed you off the shout out list – let me know you are a listener and I will make up for it next time!
My next big event is Exe to Axe on April 2nd - my birthday! I'll be planning to record on the run for that.
And then the following weekend, which is Easter weekend, on Saturday, April 8th I'll be at The Cornwall Running Show hosting some of the guest speakers and with a stand for this podcast. I will be looking out for show visitors to come on the stand and do a two or three minute chat to talk about their 2023 running adventures which will then form an episode of this podcast. My running club - Truro Running Club - will also have a stand there.
This is episode 113 of the Running 44@60 podcast. You can access and download the previous 112 episodes via your usual podcast app or follow this link.

Host Trevor Lee ran his own first ultra in 2021 - the 44 mile Classic Quarter - hence 44@60. Trevor has written a book about his buildup and adventure – it is both a business and running book and is now available on Amazon via this link: 12 Business Lessons from Running an Ultra Marathon. Each sales generates £5 for Childrens Hospice South West.

If you would like to come on this podcast and share your running experiences, tips, advice, plans, as well as specialist knowledge that will help runners then email Trevor via: podcast@trevorleemedia.co.uk
