Holding Our Addicted Loved Ones Accountable
Manage episode 424161154 series 3450378
There is nothing more heart-wrenching than wanting to help someone who can only help themselves. Often times, we want to give up on the loved ones we have in our life who are addicted to drugs or alcohol. It seems like an endless cycle of quitting and using, and sometimes, the abuse that comes with it is unbearable.
Dr. Brain Licuanan joins us for the difficult conversation of addiction and abuse. He shares with us his newly published book, which is a guide book on how to get our loved ones who are resisting rehab to get help. While we can only help people so much, WE CAN play a huge role in those people wanting to get help, and how their mindset is around their actions and the consequences for them. I get personal in this episode, going into some detail about my father's battle with alcoholism and drug use.
Whether you are struggling with addiction, know someone who is struggling, or know someone who knows someone who is struggling, I highly suggest y'all take a listen and share it. There are great resources and knowledge available in this episode, along with relatable personal experience.
