In episode 93, Genny spoke with Heidi Friesen, owner of Heidi-and-Seek Boutique, located in Winkler, Manitoba, who creates high quality, handmade clothing to help women express their unique personality.
Heidi shared how she got started in fashion and also spoke about the importance of “dopamine dressing”, which is wearing clothes you love that will boost your mood. For context, dopamine is a chemical messenger in the brain that reinforces behaviours that make you feel good. It could be the colours, the style, the fit or the fabric – or a combination of all!
Heidi spoke about how she creates her designs, and how she loves mixing patterns and colours. She also spoke about matching her clothes to her earrings!
As well, Heidi spoke about “clothing for a cause” and how she’s partnered with local organizations to help those in need by creating clothing as part of a fundraiser, and donates a portion of the proceeds to these organizations.
Lastly, Heidi spoke about the importance of being authentic and of self-care, and of loving yourself.
