Today, we're peeling back the curtain on a topic that doesn't get nearly enough air time: the loneliness of success, joy and happiness. Yep, you heard that right.
Ever noticed how, when you're down and struggling, there's no shortage of folks ready to lend a sympathetic ear or a shoulder to cry on? Misery loves company, as they say. It’s almost as if we’re more comfortable rallying around someone's hardships than celebrating their wins. But let's flip the script—what happens when you start crushing it, when the success you've worked so hard for finally starts rolling in?
You'd think the confetti would be flying and the champagne corks popping, right? Wrong. Suddenly, your phone goes suspiciously quiet. Friends who were once a call away seem to have vanished into thin air. It's as if happiness and success have become a taboo topic. Why is it so hard to find people who are genuinely happy for you when you're doing well?
Here's the thing: your success can unintentionally highlight someone else's insecurities. It's not about you; it's about them. Maybe they see your success as a mirror reflecting their perceived shortcomings. Or perhaps, they’ve bought into the scarcity mindset—thinking that there’s only so much happiness to go around.
But let’s be real. Success is not a pie. There's enough to go around for everyone. Celebrating each other’s victories should be a norm, not an exception. So, what do you do when you feel like you're on an island of your own triumphs? First off, recognize that it’s okay to outgrow people. Your journey of self-discovery and personal development might take you places where not everyone can follow, and that's perfectly fine. Surround yourself with those who uplift and inspire you, even if it means finding new circles.
Secondly, be that person who celebrates others. Lead by example. The more we embody this mindset, the more we encourage it in our communities. And finally, be compassionate with yourself. It’s easy to fall into the trap of self-doubt when others aren’t celebrating with you, but remember that your worth isn’t determined by external validation.
So, let's break these stereotypes together. Let’s create a culture where we’re just as comfortable cheering for success as we are supporting through struggle. Share your thoughts in the comments—have you experienced this loneliness of success? How do you navigate it?
Until next time, keep discovering, keep growing, and keep being kind to yourself. If you enjoyed this video, don’t forget to like, subscribe, and hit that notification bell so you never miss an episode.
