We are joined by Eli Weinstein, a social work therapist who has worked in a psych hospital intensive outpatient clinic and currently runs his own private practice in both New York and Nevada. He became a therapist and podcast host to fill a need for a more modern outlook on mental health and to create a more digestible and relatable view on mental health. During our chat, Eli explains how his childhood ADHD sparked his own interest in therapy and helping others, how the pandemic has impacted our views on gratitude and fear, what therapy really is like for those who may feel apprehensive about it, and three steps to navigating a tough conversation. In this episode we cover:
  • Eli's journey into becoming a therapist [1:26]
  • The impact of the pandemic on people’s lives [5:05]
  • Men, mental health and therapy [10:45]
  • What you should know about therapy [14:42]
  • Parenting as a person with ADHD [21:34]
  • Navigating the “kids” conversation with your partner [31:59]
  • Two types of people in the world (satisficers vs. maximizers) [36:59]
