I remember sitting behind my desk in a big, empty office, feeling overwhelmed with the amount of work I had to do. As a solo practitioner, I knew I needed to hire help but the thought of adding the extra expense felt completely overwhelming. 🏤 I finally broke down and hired someone but she just couldn’t keep up so I not-so-professionally let her go.

And the next hire wasn’t much better. She definitely didn’t work out and I ended up firing her over text message while pulled over at a rest stop. Not my proudest moments. 🫣

So, I thought it fitting to share my own rollercoaster experiences of hiring and firing employees over the years, when I had no idea how to manage people to now when I’m able to approach these conversations as a true business owner, not just as "nice Ronda." 😅

Firing an employee can be one of the most daunting tasks for any business owner. Many of us avoid it, delay it, or handle it poorly because we don't want to be the bad guy or hurt someone's feelings. But you have to remember, your #1 job as a business owner is to protect the viability, profitability, and people in your business! ✊

When you are being inauthentic and dishonest to an employee that is just not the right fit, you will only end up creating more stress and tension for yourself and in addition, create an environment where your employee is not able to thrive in! 🫤

I know it can be hard. But I'm here to share my journey so you can avoid the same mistakes and find your path to becoming a compassionate yet effective leader. 🌟

Let's dive into the steps you need to take before, during, and after firing an employee, ensuring it's done respectfully and professionally. 💯

In this episode you’ll hear:

👉 How to shift your mindset from being "the bad guy" to a responsible business owner.

👉The importance of documenting conversations and feedback.
