In this episode of Health Hacktivators, Dr. Alka Patel speaks about the importance of positivity for our health and well-being.

She explains that positivity is not about being happy all the time or denying negative emotions, but rather cultivating an optimistic outlook and positive emotional disposition. Dr. Patel discusses the biological mechanisms involved in positivity, including key chemicals such as dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins, and the role of the brain in regulating our emotions. She also explains how heart rate variability (HRV) can be used to measure stress and positivity, and how mindfulness apps, meditation, and biofeedback devices can be helpful tools for increasing positivity and improving HRV. Dr. Patel concludes by offering three health-activating hacks for improving positivity, including practising gratitude, engaging in regular physical activity, and cultivating positive relationships with others.
