#102: Austin Marquez (he/him) and Carson Rammelt join Liz and Bryce III to share their story of creating STAGES, the 11 track album written by Austin and produced by Carson. The album recounts the different stages of recovery. It speaks to experiencing the pink cloud, carrying guilt from the past, falling in love again in sobriety, enduring different forms of "relapse", and finding inner-strength.
Check out the episode to learn more about the Carson and Austin and the beautiful piece of work they created together, including:

  • How although producing the album was intimidating at first, the project was incredibly healing to Carson throughout his first year of recovery.
  • The song Austin wanted to omit from the album and how Carson talked him through keeping it for others to hear.
  • How a microphone is similar to a camera in the way that it picks up all the emotions and intentions.
  • The many stages of creating this body of work -- from reaching a place of healing so Austin could write about recovery, to sharing it with Carson, and now sharing it with us.
