Selenium is a mineral that plays an important role in several body functions. It is vital for the health of such things as thyroid function, Immune function, healthy metabolism and as an antioxidant.
Out of all the tissue in the body, the thyroid contains the most selenium, showing how important this mineral is to thyroid health. If the body does not have enough selenium, it can lead to autoimmune thyroid conditions such as Hashimoto's disease, Graves' disease and other autoimmune conditions
