In today's podcast episode, I will be discussing the three biggest EMDR intensive myths that often prevent therapists from offering them in their practice. While there are many more EMDR intensive myths that could be covered, I will focus on the three most commonly heard ones when working with therapists who are interested in learning more about EMDR intensives and incorporating them into their private practice but feeling hesitant.

Join me as I debunk the myths regarding the amount of time and money clients are willing to commit to intensives, the belief that EMDR intensives must be a full 40-hour week experience to be effective, and the notion that the results of EMDR intensives are exaggerated. Hopefully, by the end of this episode, you’ll gain the confidence to try intensives and not shy away from experimenting.

Topics covered in this episode:

  1. First EMDR intensive myth: Are clients really hesitant about intensives, or could there be a better way to address their concerns and convince them to try this transformative approach?
  2. Exploring the Disney FastPass analogy to understand the value of intensives in terms of time and investment
  3. Second EMDR intensive myth: Is there a more flexible and effective way to structure intensives that will work for therapists and clients?
  4. Client stories and their experience with EMDR intensives vs weekly EMDR sessions.
  5. Third EMDR intensive myth: Are intensives truly as powerful as they're claimed to be, or is there evidence to back up their effectiveness?
