On today's episode of Yours Mentally we talk about Defence Mechanisms. This episode is in conversation with Jasmeet Kaur who is a counselling psychologist.
We begin the episode by talking about what defence mechanisms are and we then name some common defence mechanisms that we use in our daily life.
We then go on to talk about why we make use of defence mechanisms.
We then talk about if defence mechanisms are healthy strategies to cope with stress, Jasmeet then suggests some healthy ways to cope with stress.
We then go on to discuss as to why people stay in denial consciously even thought they know it might end up harming them later.
We also talk about what kind of defence mechanisms we engage in after failure and which defence mechanism is the least effective and harms us more in the long run?
Jasmeet then talks about whether Freudian slips are truly our unconscious thoughts or are they just coincidental slips of tongue.
Lastly, we talk about the defence mechanisms one engages in after a break-up in a romantic relationship.
