Marcus Smith is a renowned ultra athlete and coach who recently helped 2 of his athletes set the UK Backyard Ultra Records for male and female, with showings of 89 hours (370 miles) and 35 hours (145 miles) respectively. But that is just the tip of the iceberg. While training to set a cycling world record in 2018, Marcus had a nearly fatal collision with a truck that resulted in a shattered shoulder, 7 broken ribs, and punctured lung. Rather than embrace a victim mindset, Marcus took control of his recovery, placing gratitude and intention at the forefront of his lifestyle, and continued living life to the fullest as evidenced by his seemingly never-ending string of accomplishments. Take us on your long run to listen as we chat with Marcus about what he has learned, the 4 principles of The Ultra Mindset, and how you can incorporate his training secrets to dominate your next Backyard Ultra. Be sure to follow him on Instagram at @mjd_smith and check out his website at www.mjdsmith.com where you can find the book list we mention in our discussion. Also, you won't want to miss his documentary, Fight For Every Breath, which chronicles his crash and incredible recovery journey. This guy lives and breathes #JustShowUp. Enjoy the episode!
