“Women go through so much just to be heard, we had to kick down doors to have a seat at the table. Now let’s pile on Motherhood to that -and - that’s just icing on the cake.” - Tonia Rivers

Tonia Rivers is a project manager with over 17 years of experience in the construction industry. She is also the host of Mothers In Construction podcast and founder of the non-profit Mothers In Construction (M.I.C.). Tonia is dedicated to giving a voice to mothers working in the male-dominated field of construction while also providing encouragement to young women in the field to pursue their dreams of motherhood.

Her most cherished gifts are her three children and husband who is also an active duty military service member.

In this episode, Tonia and I discussed:

  • How she managed a demanding job, with major deadlines in a male dominated industry with 3 little ones and a military husband.
  • The obstacles, hurdles and internal struggles she had to overcome
  • The decisions she had to make when it came to deadlines and her family while striving to be successful in the construction industry.
  • How as mothers - Making “IT” Happen and multitasking can be our super power - she used those same strategies to the construction world.
