Given Charlamagne The God’s recent announcement of a partnership for a podcast network on iHeart radio, the question now comes up of having a seat at the table vs building your own. Are both aspects correct? Should black people in America be more concerned with building their own table, or getting an equity stake at someone else’s? What’s an acceptable amount of ownership that a creator is willing to part with? With podcasts being larger than ever before, should black podcasters continue a path of independence, or seek network deals?
