The Jen Marples Show episode 171 is here!

It wouldn't be a summer of killer podcast replays without including this poignant, insightful, emotional, uplifting, and empowering conversation with the most influential woman in my life - my mom, Linda McCabe.

If you're fortunate enough to have a mother or a mother figure in your life, I highly recommend interviewing them, as I did, to gain an important perspective on our collective fight for equality AND to engage and ask questions you might have never asked in your life. It's so powerful and insightful.

My mom and I got into a juicy and, yes, emotional discussion about what her boomer generation experienced and how they needed to step up and be older, perhaps before they were ready. One example was my mom holding me as a babe in arms and sending my dad off to Vietnam, wondering if he would come back. What a thing to ponder at 24 years old.

We also talk about how the responsibilities for women are the same and yet different throughout each generation. We laugh, we cry, and we laugh again. This might be one of the most important podcasts I've ever recorded and I hope you love it as much as I do.

My mom and I discuss:

  • Changing priorities, expectations, and parenting styles across generations.
  • Women advocating for their voices and places in a challenging world.
  • Difficulties faced by older women seeking continued employment.
  • How our decisions shape our own and others' lives.
  • Empowering children through choice, responsibility, and resources.
  • Women's challenges and supporting future generations.
  • The power of having one advocate that believes in you.
  • How women can best support each other.

My mom says: You’re Not Too F***ing Old! To do Whatever You Want!
