The ACN Podcast with Ben Jenkins MACN

Hello, and welcome to the ACN Podcast, the official podcast of the Australian College of Nursing.

My name is Ben Jenkins. I’m a member of ACN, and a third year Registered Nurse. For the first two years of my career, I documented my experiences of starting as a graduate nurse into the Intensive Care Unit, then into the Emergency Department, via the New Grad Radio Podcast. This year I enter the Australian Army as a Full Time Nursing Officer; and I’m excited to Establish, and Host the ACN Podcast.

The year 2020 has been declared by the World Health Organisation as the year of the Nurse & Midwife. This global recognition, provides an opportunity to highlight the achievements of nurses and midwives everywhere, who are going above and beyond, for the benefit of their community.
This, is the purpose of the ACN podcast. Follow me each fortnight throughout this year, as I interview a range of nurses and midwives. Whether it be acknowledging the careers of the nurses & midwives who have come before us and who have changed the course of our professional history; to highlighting the achievements of nurses and midwives who are currently transforming the healthcare system; to shining a light on some of the up-and-coming professionals who are full of passion and drive; there will be episodes here for everyone.

The year 2020 is going to be a BIG year, full of opportunity for our profession; and a way to showcase to the world, what we can, and have been achieving as nurses and midwives.

For those new to podcasts, most podcast platforms are free to use; and If you’re interested in keeping up to date with each episode, make sure to subscribe. You can do this by opening up your streaming platform, for example, Spotify - type in ‘Australian College of Nursing’, click on the icon that says ‘Subscribe’. What this will do, is when each new episode of the ACN podcast is released, it will automatically download the latest episode, ready for you to listen.
