Shaelene Bell was last seen at 8:30 PM on January 30, 2021 when she left her Chilliwack apartment. 2 days later, her car was found on Ballam Road near the Fraser River. Shaelene’s body was found on Wednesday June 2, 2021 in the Fraser River near Coquitlam, BC. Since Shaelene was found in June of 2021, her mother Alina Durham has been working to have the criteria of the Broadcast Intrusive Alert system also known as Alert Ready amended to include adults who go missing under suspicious circumstances, are vulnerable, and those who are at risk of imminent danger or death.
Letters in support of Shaelene’s Missing Adult Alert can also be sent to the Governor General of Canada Mary Simon at info@gg.ca or by mail to: Rideau Hall, 1 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Ont., K1A 0A1.
