Sarah Stinson is a leader and practitioner in the field of holistic health and healing. After graduating with a masters in community counseling she started working with those affected by eating disorders both in the area of prevention and treatment. In the beginning of her career she was an activist facilitating a group called GO GIRLS!TM which stands for Giving Our Girls(and Guys) Inspiration and Resources for Lasting Self-Esteem. This journey led her to become the Creative Energy Officer (CEO) for a non-profit called Higherself whose mission was to "strengthen the spirit of each girl to celebrate who she is and what she can do." In addition she lobbied on Capitol Hill in support of an eating disorders bill, appeared on a national talk show, presented at various national conferences and brought the GO GIRLS! to Fiji to present on the impact of the media on body image and self-esteem. She was the recipient of the Outstanding Service Award (Eating Disorders Awareness and Prevention), Lori Irving Award for Excellence (National Eating Disorders Association), the Whitaker Award (Minnesota Coalition of Adolescent Females), and the Westin Family Award for Activism (National Eating Disorders Association). She was active as a member of the girlsBEST Advisory Board for the Women's Foundation of Minnesota and past member and president of the board of directors for the Girls Coalition of MN.

As Sarah has always been one to live out of the box and create her own path she is now integrating her passion for facilitating and supporting individuals to find their true beauty and unique place in the world with her interest in health and medicine. She completed massage school and then went on to become certified in Healing Touch through Healing Beyond Borders. Being a student of life she continued with her training to become an instructor of Foundations in Healing Touch and completed a 2 year interprofessional fellowship in integrative medicine from the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine.

Currently she is exploring how to blend her years of experience in the mental health field primarily working with those in recovery from eating disorders with her recent training in energy medicine and integrative health and medicine. Stay tuned to see where her journey takes her.

In the meantime she loves her job as an eating disorders therapist, integrative medicine and health coordinator and manager of a behavioral health department. She continues to be passionate about presenting on topics such as resiliency, work-life balance, eating disorders, integrative health and medicine and Healing Touch. She feels blessed to have witnessed the healing journeys of so many including her own healing from a brain aneurysm and a herniated disc. She finds joy spending time in nature with her dog Luna, traveling with friends, swimming with dolphins, reading, listening to music, especially reggae, and connecting and chilling with her wonderful partner Dan, family, friends, new and old and their pets. She looks forward to continuing to inspire each person to find their true calling, create their own formula for happiness and health and to see their true beauty and worth!!! stinson.sarah@mayo.edu
