On this episode, Aldwin speaks on the recent passing of Dr. Nakita Mortimer and the need for change in the medical training environment. Aldwin elaborates on his mental health journey when he was in residency and why ultimately every life should be cherished, respected and loved. There is a conversation to be had about how individuals navigate their trials and tribulations. People have good days, people have bad days, people have the best days but at the end of the day we are all human and deserved to feel empowered in any and every good thing we do. Real and raw with his experience of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation while he was in the process. Mental illness has no face and everyone has their challenges with it. We can't address this unless we face it head on and improve the structures which facilatate its influence on our daily life. Aldwin dissects his experience and offers words of encouragement for those entering into their intern year in the next upcoming weeks.
