Each year for the past 11 years, Don Taylor has asked the entire community for their opinions and feelings on what forces will have the greatest influence in the world of Learning and Development. Since the advent of ChatGPT, it’s been hard to see beyond the hopes, concerns, claims, and overall anticipation around artificial intelligence. So it’s no surprise AI came away dominant in the 2024 Global Sentiment Survey.
As Don explains, this survey shows how learning practitioners FEEL about their arena this year. In an attempt to go a little deeper and observe what they’re doing and how it’s working, we discuss the 3,000 free-text answers to the question, “what are your L&D challenges in 2024?” There’s plenty of trepidation, anticipation, skepticism, and perhaps most importantly, dedication to figuring out how technology can take learning to the next level.
Join us as we discuss:
  • Why AI as a topic had such an unprecedented influence across this year’s survey
  • How AI-centric responses transitioned away a from focus on content generation, and toward other AI-enabled functions
  • Why social and collaborative learning took a hit in the survey, and what that means for the future
  • Why the power of skills-based talent management is limited, and how such an approach can improve moving forward
  • The challenges of demonstrating learning value to executives, and whether technology will facilitate this goal
  • Whether big tech companies will take over the world
