One of the first strategies that I implemented to help heal my IBS was to focus on what to eat — or, better said, what NOT to eat.In the IBS community, many foods are labeled as bad, so it was a normal response for me to consider that what I was eating was both the cause and solution to my IBS misery. It is true that what you eat is part of the solution but not the whole solution. You’ve most likely heard of the Low FodMap diet. Many women stay on it for a very long time. Their diets are significantly limited — often to just a few specific food choices that sit well with them. Such a restrictive diet can actually impede healing in the long term. Let’s talk about what you can do instead.
