Mikey Bharj is talking to HARROW HORIZONS
Meet Hibah Ahmed and the rest of her team, the Voice and Influence Panel of young volunteers.
Harrow Horizons is a targeted mental health and wellbeing service for children and young people. The service is run by Barnardo’s in partnership with the NHS, Harrow Council and local schools.
Harrow Horizons offer a multitude of treatments (interventions), from art, to music, to play, to drama and cognitive behaviour therapy.
There are a lot of ailments that young people suffer - isolation, digital poverty, anxiety, online bullying. Social media is like an apple with the bite taken out of it and what you see is the perfect side. These are just a few of the issues.
It is particularly beneficial for young people to talk about mental health with other young people who have gone through the same thing. It should not be a taboo subject. There are a group of volunteers attached to Harrow Horizons called the V & I (VOICE AND INFLUENCE) panel that help other young people.
