Everyone is touched by addiction in some way, whether it is your personal experience, or knowing or losing someone struggling with it. Having gone through addiction herself, Nikki shares her experiences and emotions about it through her music, where she and her fans heal their trauma by rocking out together.
In this special episode for National Recovery Month, we’re talking about how they tour and tackle the rock ‘n’ roll scene while SOBER, how they find healing through music and performing, and all things recovery and rock ‘n’ roll!

The Stipps’ journey to sobriety, spanning over 11 years, has become an essential element of their artistic narrative, guiding their mission to inspire and support others through their music. The May 2023 release of "Sleepwalker" marked a poignant moment, addressing addiction recovery and delivering a message of hope to fans nationwide. During recovery month (September) the band plans to speak their truth louder than ever. Their moniker, "HOOKED LIKE HELEN," even pays homage to unexpected sources of addiction, derived from a friend's mother's fixation on diet coke. This blend of personal history and meaningful connection is the hallmark of their artistry. The band's sound gracefully blends vulnerability and fierceness, reminiscent of iconic artists like Tori Amos. The fierceness is not limited to their sound. They tackle songs that many artists could not / would not touch. Equally comfortable covering Slipknot’s “Duality” as they are covering Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire” with Halocene, there is nowhere HOOKED LIKE HELEN just won’t go.
