Beyond Complaining: Find Ways to Make a Real Difference

On Tuesday, I talked about the need to do something. Today I want to talk about a subset of that.

There is a group of older Christian men who gather at the local coffee shop when I’m there. I’ve learned to sit where I can’t hear them because they endlessly gripe about pretty much everything.

My guess is, their complaining feels like doing something about the very real problems they see in the world.

Now I can gripe with the best of them. But I work to control that. I also look for ways to make a difference. I can’t change the world, but I can effect it in small ways. If enough of us do that, we will see real change.

Before I had a blood cancer, I gave blood as often as I could. I leave food in the mini food pantry at the YMCA every Tuesday. And I just accepted a position on the board of directors for the local food pantry.

There are plenty of ways to make a difference. Find one and jump in. Even better, include your wife in your search, and then jump in together.
