In this episode Maxwell Cooper, M.D. interviews Jack Kartush, M.D., a neurotologic surgeon, medical device inventor, and entrepreneur. He is a pioneer in the field of intraoperative nerve monitoring and many of his devices are used everyday in operating rooms around the world. Dr. Kartush discusses his process for developing new medical devices and how he overcame initial skepticism for his innovations. Dr. Kartush also describes his experiences with balancing starting a high volume private practice, being a prolific academician, and starting multiple companies. Lastly, Dr. Kartush shares stories about his lifelong passion for music and how his rock and roll band was offered a record deal at age 17.
