With no prior connection to filmmaking, my journey took an unexpected turn in Dubai. I had to leave my civil engineering studies and was unwillingly pushed into sound engineering. This twist of fate introduced me to video editing, a skill that would set the foundation for my future career. Through sheer coincidence, I became a well-known editor, and another unexpected opportunity led me to my first directing gig—a bet with a singer friend that ended in the project's cancellation.

Despite the setback, I persevered and soon landed my first official directing job for a music video in late 2002. Join me as I reflect on the challenges, coincidences, and pivotal moments that shaped my path from Iraq to becoming a filmmaker. This episode is a testament to the resilience and unpredictability of life's journey, offering insights and inspiration for aspiring filmmakers and storytellers.
