Although a global pandemic threw a wrench into their initial reunion plans four years ago, reggae/soul/rock n’ rollers SubCity are coming back for one night only at the Park Theatre April 13.
Here's my conversation with Darryl (sax) and Johannes (vocals/guitar) about next month’s show — their first as SubCity in a dozen years — the band’s history and legacy, whether they’re a ska band and how to define it, and much more.
Although neither guest has been on the podcast before to talk about SubCity, they've each been on a few times to talk about other projects over the years. Darryl was on episodes #040 (Sept. 2013) and #058 (Jan. 2014), plus he played in our Big Mix-Up and Little Mix-Up bands (#220 and #216, 2017). Johannes was on episodes #269 (Feb. 2018), #458 (Feb. 2020), and #683 (April 2022).
