It's time for the Mid-Month catch up episode for September! A little later than planned, but we've finally exorcised our tech-gremlins to get this episode ready for you. We've got the usual catch ups with a few of our lovely booksellers - Annabelle, Andy, Katy, Dave, and Tracey - as well as a mini autumn preview and Man Booker shortlist discussion with Tracey. Then we've got something a little different for you; a chat three of us booksellers had in the staffroom over lunch, when one of us was having a bit of a reading slump (or book block, whichever you call it). It was quite an interesting discussion (and entertaining, if we do say so ourselves) so thought you might like to hear it! We'll be back on the 1st October with our Books Of The Month and Super Thursday preview episode! What are you reading? The books mentioned: Annabelle Uprooted – Naomi Novik Temeraire (Book One, Temeraire Series) - Naomi Novik Coraline & Other Stories - Neil Gaiman Tangleweed & Brine - Deidre Sullivan Angela Carters' Book Of Fairytales - Angela Carter Andy What Belongs To You - Garth Greenwell The People At Number 9 - Felicity Everett Katy Kingdom Come (Book Four, Kingmaker Series) - Toby Clements Grunt - Mary Roach A Brief History Of Time - Stephen Hawking Stiff - Mary Roach Gulp - Mary Roach Packing For Mars - Mary Roach Munich - Robert Harris Dave The Arrival Of Missives - Aliya Whiteley The Beauty - Aliya Whiteley Assassin's Apprentice (Book One, Farseer Trilogy) - Robin Hobb Black Ships Before Troy: The Story Of The Illiad - Rosemary Sutcliff, Alan Lee (illustration) Starborn (Book One, Worldmaker Trilogy) - Lucy Hounsom Tracey Circe - Madeline Miller (April 2018) The Song Of Achilles - Madeline Miller Stephen Fry - Mythos (November 2017) Free Food For Millionaires - Min Jin Lee Pachinko - Min Jin Lee The Explorer - Katherine Rundell The Book Of Dust - Philip Pullman (October 2017) Nevermoor: The Trials Of Morrigan Crow (October 2017) The Wizards Of Once - Cressida Cowell (September 2017) 4321 - Paul Auster Life After Life - Kate Atkinson The Narrow Road To The Deep North - Richard Flanagan A Little Life - Hanya Yanagihara First Person - Richard Flanagan (November 2017) A Skinful Of Shadows - Frances Hardinge The Lie Tree - Frances Hardinge Magnus Chase & The Ship Of The Dead (Book Three, Magnus Chase) - Rick Riordan (October 2017) The Gift Of Dark Hollow (Podkin & The Five Realms, Book Two) - Kieran Larwood Liv The Subtle Knife (Book Two, His Dark Materials) - Philip Pullman History Of Wolves - Emily Fridlund My Absolute Darling - Gabriel Tallent Autumn - Ali Smith Lincoln In The Bardo - George Saunders Elmet - Fiona Mozley Solar Bones - Mike McCormack Peppa Pig's Little Library Meg The Passage - Justin Cronin Game Of Thrones (A Song Of Ice & Fire, Book One) - George R R Martin Diary Of An Oxygen Thief - Anonymous The Dumb House - John Burnside Chameleon In A Candy Store - Anonymous The Wasp Factory - Iain Banks Check out our blog for more info on previous episodes of WExCast - https://waterstonesex.wordpress.com For tickets and information on any of our events check our Waterstones.com page www.waterstones.com/bookshops/exeter-roman-gate
