Talking With Serial Killers Daily, Flirts & Scary, Funny & Chilling, Interesting & No Fun Says Vonda Pelto, Ph.D. and author of Without Remorse: The Story of the Woman Who Kept Los Angeles' Serial Killers Alive and Clinical Psychologist, talks about how she learned to be on guard with the range of serial killers, sexual predators, sociopaths and hardened criminals she was dealing with at Los Angeles Men's Central Jail from 1979 to 1982. In reaction to the jailhouse suicide suicide of Freeway Killer Vernon Butts, the Los Angeles Count Health Department brought in Vonda Pelto, then getting her Ph.D. to become a Clinical Psychologist, to keep a number of other serial killers engaged socially and alive while awaiting trail. when she was hired to keep them from harming themselves before going to trial. It is all contained in her book, Without Remorse, which will hopefully hit the silver screen in the near future. In the book are conversations and interactions with men like Hillside Strangler Kenneth Bianchi, Sunset Strip Killer Douglas Clark, Freeway Killer William Bonin and others. They were all evil and, to a certain degree, charming and smart. Serial Killers are not stupid and rarely addicted to drugs or alcohol, which is a often assumed. William Bonin had a physical need to kill and thought out it all the time. It would strangle young boys after repeatedly raping them. They were unrepentant and remained so as Vonda explained; they are totally devoid of feelings about their victims, family or friends. It never enters their mind when they are torturing, raping and murdering their victims.
