EP 2: Facebook and Warranties
Manage episode 333428584 series 3112689
Hack the planet!
Discussing Facebook’s recent data “scare,” and the FTC’s frown upon warranty language.
This part I didn’t include in the audio, but later as replies to several contacts:
There’s not been much change or shift in privacy since FB’s launch, and especially since they opened up their dev program to so many. While their developer platform has always been well regulated, we’ve known and warned for years the type of control third-parties of Facebook (developer, website/service) are enabled. People like to make it out as if “noting friendships” is a big deal, but this type of grid is automatically standard due to how a “social engine” is built from the core.
You just can’t change the social engine concept and expect “privacy.” If you don’t want your medical issues on Facebook, then don’t put them there. But let it be known, all your relationships and social groups will always be visible.
