Avi Loeb is an Israeli-American theoretical physicist and astronomer who is known for his work on the search for extraterrestrial life and the study of black holes and other exotic celestial objects. Loeb is the Frank B. Baird Jr. Professor of Science at Harvard University and the Chair of the Department of Astronomy, where he conducts research on a wide range of topics in astrophysics and cosmology.
