09.11 [Sermon] Thoughts on Church: Part One - God With Us - On the first Sunday of our Fall Schedule we explore what it means to gather and worship as a community and more specifically, what it means to gather and worship as a Community of Christians and Skeptics. And, is this even possible? Can doubt and faith actually live alongside each other? Or, perhaps Jesus’ own community, his disciples, close friends, family and the crowds that followed him were in fact the very first Community of Christians and Skeptics. Perhaps they wrestled like we do and felt the same intermingled love, joy, pain, faith and doubt that we all feel. And, maybe that’s actually what this whole Gospel thing - this ‘Good News’ thing - is all about. Because, in the midst of that first Community of Christians and Skeptics - there was Jesus. He was with them and for them and wanted them to be with and for each other.
