When we think of autism, how many of us think about not just the diet, but possibly how some autistic kids react to different foods? How do we keep them trying new things instead of restricting themselves to just 5 foods? This is what I will be discussing with my next guest J. R. Reed on his food blog that is dedicated to autistic food sensitivities and his own journey on the autism spectrum. J.R. Reed is an autism self-advocate, speaker, writer, food freak, cookbook fanatic, and Kansas City Barbeque Society judge. After spending many years working in and running restaurant kitchens, he moved to his home kitchen where he worked on perfecting his food creations. Now he’s sharing those recipes and stories on his sensory-friendly food blog, My Autistic Kitchen. To J.R., food is a blank canvas, and he likes to color outside the lines.
