The TWITBE BIG EAST Spotlight shines Wojciechowski who discusses Marquette’s resiliency during the pandemic plagued season. The Golden Eagles recently defeated North Carolina in Chapel Hill and look to round into form in time for the BIG EAST Tournament. BIG EAST Commissioner Val Ackerman is on TWITBE bringing this week’s focus on the upcoming Conference Tournament. Ackerman talks about the changes in the sports world over the course of the calendar year. She discusses how the Conference, along with the member institutions, put together a season as fairly, as safely and as equitably as can be done. The national perspective comes from Blue Star Media College Basketball writer “Hoops” Weiss. Weiss discusses Villanova’s conference dominance over the past decade. He also takes a look at the Wildcats’ roster without Collin Gillespie, the impact it may have on Villanova’s NCAA tournament seeding.

The 2021 season of This Week in the BIG EAST (#TWITBE) is available for download on Apple podcasts, Google podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Overcast, Castro, Castbox and Podfriend in addition to its Westwood One distribution. The show airs on three Sirius XM stations on Saturdays preceding the first BIG EAST contest of the day. This week, TWITBE will be carried on Sirius 133, XM 201, Online 964 at 1:30 p.m. ET, leading into the Villanova at Providence game at 2:30 p.m.

In the “Blast from the Past” segment, TWITBE takes a dive into the 2014 season, reliving March 8 when Creighton’s all-American Doug McDermott scored a career high 45 points on senior night. He became just the 8th player to go over the 3,000 point mark in his career for the Bluejays. “Dougie McBuckets” would go on to win BIG EAST and National Player of the Year later that season.

The returning hosts for This Week In The BIG EAST (#TWITBE) are John Rooke, a longtime BIG EAST play-by-play voice, and Kevin McNamara, BIG EAST reporter, columnist and author. Rooke and McNamara give a comprehensive look at the teams, coaches, players and storied tradition of the top basketball conference in America in each episode.

The episode’s “Who’s Hot” segment features audio clips from some recent big performances around the league and a recap of the league’s weekly honors. “Who’s Got Next?” takes a look at the upcoming schedule, highlighting the big matchups.
