The Comics Aficionados break down all the latest comic book industry news and rumors. Penguin Random House’s first delivery of Marvel Comics to market couldn’t have gone any worse. Local comic shops across North America reported widespread damages due to poor packing materials. Many reported losing entire shipments of high value comic books. (00:10:15) X-Men group editor Jordan White talked to AIPT this week to discuss Jonathan Hickman’s exit and the future of the franchise. Jordan White is adamant Hickman left because he thought the X-Men office was doing a great job. Needless to say many are skeptical of his assessment. (00:42:35) There were 3 dominant team books during the 1980’s, Marvel’s X-Men and DC’s Teen Titans and Legion of Superheroes. The Aficionados debate who would win in a fare fight, X-Men or Legion of Superheroes. (01:05:10) Widespread paper shortages have left comic publishers scrambling to reschedule upcoming titles. Comics printed outside of North America are especially vulnerable to delays. This week, DC Comics announced a multitude of new delays associated with he paper shortage. (01:53:05) Amazing Spider-Man #75 is a new beginning for the famed title. Nick Spencer is out and Zeb Wells, Patrick Gleason, Kelly Thompson, Saladin Ahmed and Cody Ziggler (collectively known as the Beyond Bard) are in. Ben Reilly also joins the series to claim the Spider-man mantle for himself and the Beyond Corporation. (02:07:20) Finally, Marvel Comics announced a new writer for Marauders and stealth cancelled a handful of comics including Champions and Guardians of the Galaxy. (02:16:55)
