Moses also had to intercede for the children of Israel. They had made their mind to return back to Egypt when they were just at the border of the promise land. God concluded - I will disinherit them and wipe them off the face of the earth. And out of Moses I will raise a new generation to take the land. So soon the children of Israel had forgotten that God has been the one fighting for them right from Egypt. He subdued nations before them. He split the Red Sea with the blast of His nostrils. He rebuked kings for their sake. Now, they are faced with the giants of the promise land and their conclusion is that God brought them this far to kill them. They measured themselves against the giants of the land instead of the giants against God. Fear took over them; anxiety gripped them. They said, "let's return back to Egypt". How were they going to cross the Red Sea again without God? You see, when fear seizes your mind, you also lose your strategic mental powers. God was going to wipe them completely but Moses stepped in. Moses' argument was simple because God is a simple God. Moses said, "O my Lord let your power be great" by demonstrating greater long-suffering, great mercy and pardoning their iniquities. In effect, Moses challenged God not to respond to the unfortunate unbelief of these people but rather respond by who He is. The greatness of every power resides in its ability to endure and forgive. God is great and He is all powerful. As a result, He also concluded, "I have Pardoned them according to your word". We have prayed also for our nation, that God would forgive us. We have taken God out of our lives and said, "we don't need Him. We are better off without God". We have permitted what God has called abomination and confusion. And today God says, "I have Pardoned according to your words". So then, let the nations lift up their eyes for their redemption draws nigh because He has pardoned according to our words. Let men and women, young and old, educated and uneducated raise their hope because He has pardoned according to our words. This message will bless you more.
