This week sees us back for PART 2 of our deep-dive into the symbolic and occult meaning underpinning Philip K. Dick’s autobiographical, mostly-still-fiction, futuristic dystopia: A Scanner Darkly. We resume our analysis by first unpacking the symbolic meaning of the insects which haunt the characters from start to finish and what they have to do with the beetle headed god of ancient Egypt. Afterwards we explore the connection Donna has with the divine feminine in both Gnostic and Egyptian mythology, the inside scoop on Substance D, the field of reeds and the inclusion of the Thelemic N.O.X. formulae which also appears in the famous Black Lodge of Twin Peaks.
