How do we define it, how does it change over time and how can WE achieve it? Jennifer De Paola is a post-doc researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Helsinki, Finland. De Paola’s research focuses on how the abstract concept of happiness is shaped and constructed on various social media platforms, discussion forums and interactive online newspapers. This innovative approach to happiness studies from the perspective of naturally occurring data provided by social media has given popularity to De Paola’s research also outside the academia, in all major Finnish newspapers, and in several major newspapers in other European countries.
