Alyssa Bates is a twenty-one year old from Nashville, Tennessee. She is currently a senior at Western Kentucky University and will graduate in May with a double major in Middle School Science Education and Science and Mathematics Education with a minor in Dance. In the Fall, she will begin her dream job as a 6th grade Science teacher with the goal of inspiring young boys and girls to find their passion through education.
Alyssa has been chasing her dream as Miss Collegiate America over the last few years. Last year she placed 1st Runner-Up and knew her dream was still alive. In December she was given the chance to return to nationals in June as Miss Tennessee Collegiate America. She cannot wait to return representing her home state!
Alyssa is passionate about her platform “Beautifully BRAVE” which she started over 5 years ago. In the last year, she started a blog (youarebeautifullybrave.weebly.com) where influential figures, titleholders and herself share stories of how they have overcome body image issues, stood up against societal pressure and learned to be BRAVE in their own skin. She believes being BRAVE is a daily reminder and goal to pursue which she shares daily in her classroom.
