When we sat down to record this interview, gyms in Australia had just been closed down and David had just lost his main income stream.

Having spent over a decade developing his mental toughness in international judo competitions, David was faced with the challenge: Could he transfer everything he had curated on the tatami and apply it during an international pandemic?

In this episode, the self-described “soft kid” shares his story from quitting and then re-starting judo, to living as a full-time athlete in the very dojo where training was conducted. Included are his methods to meditate when you would rather throw someone than sit in silence, how to manage nerves before a competition, and how the same practices can be applied in life's daily uncertainties.
