Manage episode 360986174 series 3164527
Welcome to another episode of the head game!
Today’s guest is Sue Humphrey, a three-time Olympic track and field coach, and author. Her pioneer work at Arizona State University led to new standards of what women in track and field coaching aspired to be. Her insight on the high-jump was well-sought after, as she coached greats including Jackie Joyner-Kersee and in the 1996 Olympics Charles Austin to a Gold Medal. Her book, I Want to Run: The Olympic Developmental Training and Nutritional Guide for Young and Teen Track Runners Ages 10 to 18, is a blueprint for young, aspiring athletes, their parents, and coaches on how to be competitive in track and field events from scholastic meets to the Olympics. She shared her valuable insights into what it takes to work through adversity, adapt to different personalities, and coach at the highest level of performance. Enjoy another look into the Head Game!
