John 9:2-3 “Rabbi,” The disciples asked him, “why was this man born this way? Was it because of his sins or his parents’ sins?” It was not because of his sins or his parents sins” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.”
I find it fascinating how the disciples had some questions back then that we still ask God today. That is such a valid question. “Why was this man born this way?” Unfortunately some of us don’t even bother to actually look for answers. We have the question and turn our backs on God. Like if having a question about creation, about life means that God’s not there. Imagine if your child wanted to know “why do I have to brush my teeth in the morning and at night?” But never asked you and suddenly stops brushing her teeth completely and stops talking to you. That would be crazy, right. Some answers take time for us to learn or take even longer to understand, if we get to understand them at all.
Listen It is completely reasonable to wonder why some of us are born with a particular character, body type, desires and so on. I don’t know what burning questions you have about yourself, your spouse, your children, your parents, your coworkers or your neighbors. But I do know how Jesus answered this question 2000 years ago. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in “fill in the blank.”
Now that’s some practical wisdom we can apply today.
