Snuggle up with your favorite chicken lovers for a special poultry-themed reading of 'Twas The Night Before Chickmas with Meyer Hatchery. Happy Holidays from our coop to yours!
'Twas the first night of Chickmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that Meyer Hatchery soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds;
While visions of baby chicks danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just turned off our phones for a long winter's nap,
When out in the coop there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the chicken scratched snow,
Gave a luster of midday to the coop down below,
When what to my wondering eyes did appear,
But a Meyer Hatchery box full of things I hold dear,
With a little fluffy driver so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment he must be St. Chick.
More rapid than ducklings his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Quail eggs! now, Guineas! now Frizzle Easter Eggers!
On, Cochins! On, Leghorns! On, Polish or Olive Eggers!
To the top of the Barn! to the top of the wall!
Now fly away! Fly away! Fly away all!"
As geese that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the coop-top the coursers they flew
With the sleigh full of eggs, and St. Chickmas too—

Happy Holidays from all of us at Meyer Hatchery!
