TCH Vol. II, Ep. 55: Jordan Peele and Social Horror
Manage episode 346379613 series 3241983
On this episode, we have the first Vivisection of 2019, a series of monthly discussions where the EIC of Morbidly Beautiful Stephanie Malone and I debate the hot topics of horror. (Original Air Date: 1/8/19)
For this episode, we discuss whether or not Jordan Peele should be considered a “Master of Horror” after just one film, whether his debut genre film GET OUT is really that good or just overhyped due to current social trends, if GET OUT is really even a horror film or a social thriller, what it means for a film to be considered “horror”, how GET OUT fits within the pantheon of other socio-political horror films, where Peele goes from here, if fans will tire of “social justice” films, and whether or not he’s got what it takes to do justice to THE TWILIGHT ZONE and CANDYMAN reboots.
The discussions at times can and will become quite passionate, so enjoy the show!
