Jon Ronson's latest book – So you've been publicly shamed – revolves around the re-emergence of public shaming as an Internet phenomenon. How is it that somebody with few Twitter followers can post a not very funny 'joke', and hours later become publicly online enemy number 1? No doubt you've read extracts, but if you haven't yet got the book I can't recommend it highly enough.I talk to Jon about the book, the phenomenon, and how he nearly ended up on the wrong end of it himself not long after the book came out. We also talk about his life in New York, the medical industry there and their desire for him to have stage 4 cancer, and I bend his ear about Marc Maron whose WTF podcast he's appeared on twice (one of the only people to have ever done so). I make no bones about the fact I think he's is a genius, so this was my Maron-by-proxy interview.I also think Jon is a genius too, and a great guy to talk to so if you're not already, follow him on Twitter @jonronson
