In the second part of ‘Slop Week’, Hussein chats to Ed Zitron, writer of the “Where’s Your Ed At?” newsletter and the “Better Offline” podcast.

Ed has been keeping a keen eye on the big financial backers behind AI companies, and he explains why, in his estimation, there is very little run way for AI projects to prove they are worth the money. Ed explains how OpenAI’s promises of building a tech God requires more money than any infrastructure project in recent human history, and how its dismal returns may force it to reduce its ambitions. He also suggests that tech companies in general have run out of ideas, and the consequences this will have both on the internet, and the global economy at large.
